How It Started

ADCamp is the brainchild of Prof. Joseph Edward Idemne of the University of the Philippines in the Visayas, and of seasoned advertising professional, Lloyd Tronco.  AdCamp was started in the year 2000 to address the gap in "academe to industry convergence".  At that time, critical shifts in the advertising industry were beginning to take place due to the advent of computers and the internet.  As such, textbook material on local advertising practices were beginning to become outdated.

Under Prof. Joseph Idemne, ADCamp then became a practicum project for the course BA 172 or Integrated Marketing Communications.  It has now become an annual event organized by the BSBA Marketing Senior Class of the UPV College of Management and the UPV Marketing Society, Inc.

Since the year 2000, ADCamp has become an institution in its own right drawing seasoned advertising and marketing professionals as speakers, as well as drawing students from schools as far as Cagayan de Oro and Davao.
